Tammy Payne is an Emmy nominated news anchor nationally recognized for investigative reporting. Tammy was a member of the News9 family during the Oklahoma City bombing and is now the anchor for News 9's 4am newscast. Tammy says her greatest professional privilege was the opportunity to tell the stories of sorrow and hope that rose from the ashes of the Alfred P. Murrah building.
After 15 years on the air in Oklahoma, Tammy spent several years in Publishing and Marketing. During that time, she was named Vice President of an Oklahoma City Marketing firm that helped manage the 2008 Olympic Trials for Canoe/Kayak.
During her broadcast career, Tammy was nominated for an Emmy for her live coverage of the Terry Nichols verdict. She also worked as a producer for ABC News during the Timothy McVeigh Trial. During her time at News9 in the mid 90's, Tammy also provided live coverage of Hurricane Erin under the direction of Gary England.
Tammy has also been honored for investigative and consumer reporting from the National Academy of Television Journalists, American Women in Radio and Television and Women in Communications. She has also been honored by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters. Tammy graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma where she earned her BA in Broadcast Journalism.
Tammy has hosted numerous telethons and has volunteered her time to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, the Juvenile Diabetes Association and Oklahoma Lawyers for Children. She is also a long time member of Life Church.
Tammy says after the life changing experience of being at News9 during the bombing, returning here is like coming home.
