STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State University Board of Regents granted president Burns Hargis the power to negotiate the school's conference affiliation at a meeting Wednesday.

This move comes a day after the Pac-12 announced that it would not be expanding from a 12-team conference at this time. Rumors circulated that Oklahoma State, along with Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech, would be heading to the Pac-12 before the announcement was made.

Granting Hargis the power to negotiate conference affiliation essentially removes a step in the process if the school were to switch conferences, allowing the president to change the school's conference if he decided to.

After the regents met Wednesday, Hargis said that he was dedicated to sticking with Oklahoma and could see the Big 12 expanding back to a 12-team conference.
