Standoff In OKC Ends With One Arrest

Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office responded to the standoff at 1628 S.W. 47th Street and Penn Avenue where a man reportedly locked himself in a house.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputies have arrested one man following a standoff in southwest Oklahoma City.

Jose G. Cruz, 26, was wanted on an outstanding warrant for first-degree robbery.  Deputies went to Cruz's home at 1628 S.W. 47th Street as part of a warrant sweep Wednesday afternoon.  Deputies conducting surveillance noticed Cruz outside the home.  When Cruz saw the deputies, he ran inside the house and refused to leave.

Deputies called for back up and received assistance from the ATF, U.S. Marshal's Service and the Oklahoma City Police Department. 

Deputies fire several rounds of pepper spray into the house and Cruz surrendered after about two hours.  There were no other occupants in the house.

No injuries were reported.
