OKLAHOMA CITY -- A little league football team starts their season without the uniforms, which they paid thousands of dollars for. The players are upset. Their parents are angry, and they just want to know what went wrong.

The uniforms were ordered last month. The Bethel Acres football league coordinator paid over half the total cost of the uniforms up front. But when he went to pick them up, the uniforms weren't ready.

The Bethel Acres Wildcats spirits were crushed before they even hit the field. They were promised uniforms from Howard Sports by September 3, one week before the first game.

Eric Giddens, the league's coordinator said that date passed, and no uniforms.

"He said he would have half our jerseys delivered on the 9th and I had a balance of $1900 that we owed," Giddens said.

Giddens had already paid over $6000 and made a written deal with the owner to pay the balance later in the month.

But on the 9th, a day before the game, Giddens never got a single uniform.

"They did not show me one proof of any jersey that they had, kicked me out of the store through a text," Giddens said.

The owner of Howards would not make a comment on camera. But said the deal fell through because Giddens couldn't pay the balance.

"Why would we pay this man $6047 of not our money, but kids that play on our football team and not pay the rest," Giddens said.

Another store has come through for the Bethel Acres teams. Twid's in Midwest City heard about their predicament and pulled everything they had in stock, just in time for the first game.

Giddens said he is grateful to get the temporary uniforms, but he wants the money back he paid to Howards. He said he has contacted an attorney.

Bethel Acres is part of the Deep Fork Valley Football Association. The president said it's very unusual to be asked to pay money up front for uniforms. He said total payment is typically paid when all the uniforms are delivered.
