CLEVELAND COUNTY, Oklahoma – The Cleveland County Sheriff's Office is sponsoring six food drives at different locations throughout the county, beginning in September and continuing through the fall season.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the first food drive will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, September 10 at Homeland, located at 10700 S. Pennsylvania Avenue in Oklahoma City. Deputies will stand with a Regional Food Bank box near the store's entrance and accept donations. People are welcome to drop off canned goods and non-perishable foods.

"Nobody should have to go about their day worried about where they're going to find their next meal, especially children," County Sheriff Joe Lester said. "Please donate to our food drive and help me feed those less fortunate."

The Regional Food Bank provides food for people in 53 counties in western and central Oklahoma. About 14 percent of those in the service area live in poverty, according to figures provided by the agency.
