OKLAHOMA CITY -- The new school year is underway for most Oklahoma schools and a record number of teachers are welcoming some help.

Wednesday, hundreds of teachers showed up at the Teachers' Warehouse in Oklahoma City to pick up free school supplies.

The Teachers Warehouse was opened by the Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools. The Foundation said about 700 teachers placed orders for the supplies, worth more than $30,000.

"It helps us tremendously because we usually spend our own money on this stuff and the Teachers' Warehouse has taken the place of us spending our money," said Barbee Stueve, a teacher at Wilson Elementary School. "Now, we can just come to the Teachers' Warehouse and they just give it to us for free."

Teachers will continue picking up supplies through Thursday.
