MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- A Midwest City teen charged with killing his grandparents and setting their home on fire, pleads guilty to all of the charges against him Tuesday.

Kyle Smith was sentenced to life in prison plus 10 years.

In the last minute move one day before Smith was scheduled to go on trial, the 17-year-old pled guilty.

Smith stood in front of a judge and made the guilty plea as part of a plea deal. He was facing six counts including two counts of first degree murder for killing his grandparents, Rose and David Garrick, with a Machette.

Prosecutors say Kyle and his two friends then smoked marijuana in the living room while both victims lay dead nearby.

Tuesday in court, Smith said he had been taking bi-polar medication since he's been in jail.

As part of the plea, prosecutors have recommended Smith be evaluated for mental health placement. He will serve two life sentences concurrently, which is 45 years for the murder plus 10 years for the arson.

As part of the deal, Smith also agrees to cooperate in any future court cases.

Police say Smith's two friends who tried to help him cover it up are Dustin Martin and Jacob Leblanc. They're both charged with accessory to murder and arson, and scheduled for a preliminary hearing in September.
