OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma State Cowboys are entering this season with high expectations, both internally and externally, but they still have some issues that need to be resolved.

The Cowboys' biggest strength will be on offense, where leaders Brandon Weeden and Justin Blackmon will be back. But the unit caught teams off guard last year under offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen, who since has moved on to West Virginia.

During scrimmages this offseason under new coordinator Todd Monken, the offense's rhythm was not at the same level.

"After a couple weeks of not playing anybody but yourself, you kind of drag a little bit," Monken said. "I didn't do a good enough job of getting our guys ready."

On defense, the Cowboys will need to decide who will start in the middle of the unit, both at defensive tackle and linebacker. OSU has several options at both positions, but will low on experience regardless.
