MARSHALL COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A Texas man drowned in Lake Texoma trying to save a child Sunday afternoon.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported Adrian Sanchez, 38, from Fort Worth, drowned after he jumped out of a boat to retrieve a child who was swimming beside the boat and had drifted away.

The victim was unable to swim back to the boat with the child and went under the water and didn't resurface.

The child was rescued by the driver of a personal watercraft.

Sanchez's body was found in 20 feet of water at about 4:45 p.m. in the Fobb Bottom area of Lake Texoma.

The victim was not wearing a personal flotation device, the report said.
