Former OSU Football Player Charged With Drug Possession

STILLWATER, Oklahoma – Oklahoma State student, and former football player LeRon Furr was charged with two counts of drug possession Thursday.

According to court documents Furr was charged with one count of possession of marijuana and one count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

The misdemeanor charges come just days after the news that Furr was no longer on the football team at Oklahoma State.

Court records accuse Furr of having a prescription pill bottle with marijuana in it inside his dresser as well as keeping a "homemade marijuana bong" under the bathroom sink of his dorm room on the OSU campus.

Furr was released on a personal recognizance bond by Judge Michael Stano on Friday.

The redshirt sophomore played in three games last season for Oklahoma State recording four tackles before he missed the rest of the season with a knee injury. Furr opened training camp this season as the third-string middle linebacker, but cited the recurring knee injury as the reason he would not return to play this season.

The charge of possession of marijuana is punishable by up to one year in prison, while the other misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia is punishable by imprisonment for up to one year, a fine of $1,000 or both.

Furr's arraignment is set for Sept. 22 at 1:45 p.m.
