DES MOINES – No one can say the RedHawks didn't make things interesting.

And up-and-down game resulted in an exciting finish and a 11-10 victory for Oklahoma City on Saturday against the Iowa Cubs.

After both teams earned a run in the first inning, Iowa began to distance itself in the third with three runs for a 4-1 lead.

OKC went four straight innings without a score, but finally got back on the board again with two runs in the sixth inning. Jordan Schafer and Chris Johnson picked up RBIs to pull OKC back within 4-3.

But all the excitement came in the next inning for Oklahoma City.

The RedHawks put on a clinic, slowly loading the bases and then starting to drive home runs one by one on base hits.

Jacob Goebbert capped it off with a three-run homer to put the finishing touches on a seven-run inning that gave the RedHawks a commanding lead.

But even a 10-4 lead was not safe in this type of game. Iowa bounced back with five runs of its own in the bottom of the eighth, coming close but not close enough to overtake OKC again.

Goebbert had four RBIs to lead Oklahoma City, and pitcher Xavier Cedeno got the win in an inning of action.

The RedHawks will take on the Cubs again at 1:05 p.m. on Sunday in Des Moines.
