OKLAHOMA CITY – McGuinness coach Justin Jones has some big shoes to fill, but he has the talent to do it successfully.

Jones' predecessor Kenny Young racked up a 97-27 career record with the Irish. And while Jones will look to continue at the same rate, he said Irish fans might notice a couple of small changes.

McGuinness has had an offensive tradition of running the football to go with its sturdy defense, but Jones is looking to incorporate more spread elements as well.

The man for that job will be quarterback Camden Tharp, who threw for more than 800 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

Tharp is a threat on the ground and in the option as well, having rushed for 30 career touchdowns on the ground.

But the real strength for Bishop McGuinness is probably its defense, which allowed the second-fewest points in its district last season.

The Irish will return six starters on the defensive side of the ball and hope to match or improve on the impressive results from last year.
