MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- Drivers on Interstate 40 in Midwest City may have noticed a bump in the road Saturday afternoon. It was due to a hole which had opened up in the bridge over S.E. 29th Street.
The Oklahoma Department of Transportation said motorists reported chunks of concrete falling from the bridge and notified the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Troopers shutdown two lanes of traffic so contractors could repair a one foot by one foot hole.
Repair crews began working about 8 p.m. and are expected to finish near midnight.
An ODOT spokesman said holes in this old bridge are not common and the bridge is not slated for replacement at this time.
