STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- The Oklahoma State Cowboys are ready to start fall practice for the 2011 season, and will hit the field at 8 a.m. Friday in an effort to avoid the record-setting heat wave.

Thursday, Oklahoma State earned its highest preseason ranking during the Mike Gundy era, No. 8 in the USA Today/Coaches poll. OSU comes in one spot ahead of fellow Big 12 squad Texas A&M.

The Cowboys return to the field after finishing 11-2, the first 11-win season in school history.
