Firefighters Battling Grassfire In Edmond

EDMOND, Oklahoma -- Firefighters from Edmond, Deer Creek and Oakcliff are battling a grassfire in Edmond.  Brush pumpers from Oklahoma City have now been requested.

The fire flared up near E. Coffee Creek and N. Sooner Road Thursday afternoon. It's not known yet how it started.

The fire has now crossed Sooner Road to the east and is moving to the northeast.  Winds are from the south at 5-10 miles per hour.

Firefighters are attempting to keep the flames from approaching a couple of homes.
