OKLAHOMA CITY -- Firefighters put out a fire inside the library of a Midwest City elementary school.

The fire occurred around 11:00 Wednesday morning at Ridgecrest Elementary School in Midwest City.

According to the fire marshal, school district workers were checking lights in the ceiling of the media center/library when one of the lights sparked. When the workers checked above the ceiling, they discovered a fire.

The media center/library is detached from main school building. The fire primarily burned insulation. The building has sustained smoke damage only. The items in the library are expected to be okay.

School is open for staff and registration only and not affected by the fire.
