OKLAHOMA CITY – Oklahoma City is continuing its odd/even water rotation program that was implemented on July 20, due to the extraordinarily high daily water demand. Crews are issuing notices to those in violation. Fines are $167.

Citizens whose house numbers end in even numbers are asked to water on even-numbered calendar dates. Likewise, citizens whose house numbers end in odd numbers should only water on odd-numbered calendar dates. Hand watering with a hose is allowed any day.

The odd/even water rotation program includes TheVillage, Warr Acres and Lake Aluma. The rotation program also includes cities that purchase water from Oklahoma City, including Piedmont, Moore, El Reno, Edmond, Yukon, Mustang, Norman, Blanchard, Deer Creek water district and Canadian County District 3, unless they have adopted separate controls.

"Each plant is producing water as fast as it can. However, the closer daily water demand comes to capacity, the higher the risks of water service interruptions, low water pressure and more stringent watering restrictions, including watering every three days or outdoor watering bans," Utilities Department Director Marsha Slaughter said.

City water treatment facilities pumped a record 202 million gallons to residents and businesses on Saturday, July 30. This amount is near the daily water treatment capacity of the City's three plants – Draper, Hefner and Overholser.
