CHEROKEE COUNTY, Oklahoma -- Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers reported recovering a man's body from Lake Tenkiller Saturday afternoon.

The body of Timothy Russell Banister, 25, from Sallisaw was recovered in 50 feet of water near where he had jumped off of a bluff two days before.

A witness to the accident said Banister jumped into the water about 8 p.m. Thursday and never resurfaced.  The witness also said Banister had been drinking prior to jumping.

According to the OHP report, Banister's body was located by troopers using a drag bar about 40 feet away from the bluff where he jumped into the lake.
