OKLAHOMA CITY -- The hot and dry weather isn't keeping a vicious and painful mosquito away. It's called the Asian Tiger Mosquito and it's flying around Oklahoma.

Experts say because of the drought, the mosquito is leaving rural areas, and heading to the city, giving them the nickname "Urban mosquitoes".

The mosquitoes don't have any water because ponds are drying up, so they're looking for swimming pools, bird baths and old tires.

But the Asian Tiger Mosquito isn't like other mosquitoes.

Experts say that most mosquitoes feed early in the morning and evening around dark. However, the Asian Tiger Mosquitoes can be out anytime during the day, regardless of what the weather conditions are.

Experts suggest that you spray your backyard with mosquito spray for a short term solution. But they recommend getting mosquito dunks to really keep the pests away.
