BRYAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -- An Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper was injured after his car was hit from behind by a pickup hauling a horse trailer Thursday afternoon.

Trooper David McCutcheon was taken by medical helicopter to a Plano, Texas hospital with head injuries, according to a report by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The 28-year-old McCutcheon was parked in a construction zone on U.S. Highway 69 near Durant at when his Dodge Charger was hit from behind. The vehicle's emergency equipment was activated, the report states.

The driver of a Dodge pickup pulling a 16-ft. horse trailer was suffering from low blood sugar when his vehicle ran off the roadway to the right and hit the trooper's car.

McCutcheon is in stable condition, according to the collision report. The driver of the pickup, 58-year-old Cecil Williams, was treated and released from a Durant hospital.
