MAYSVILLE, Oklahoma – An Arkansas man was shot to death after he led police officers on an intense chase through Garvin County.

Early Saturday morning, officers in Pauls Valley responded to a burglary attempt. The suspect had gotten away, however, minutes later, officers in Maysville spotted the suspect's car.

Police say 29-year-old Paul Christian Chester was behind the wheel. He had led four different agencies on two separate chases, ramming police cars along the way.

After he crashed his Hummer, he took off into a field carrying a knife, threatening the officers.

Police tried to tase Chester, but they missed. Police say Chester made a move toward one of the Maysville officers, which resulted in the officer firing one fatal shot striking him in the chest.

The officer is on routine administrative leave.

Chester has a criminal record in Arkansas, his family came from out of state to claim his body.
