WASHINGTON, D.C. – The debate on raising the debt limit continued Sunday and Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn spoke out on what he sees as the top two issues hindering Congress and the President from settling on a solution.

"Number one, the president has said he is for $4 trillion, [in cuts] but he won't lay out in detail what he thinks we ought to do. That is number one.

"Number two is, why in the world isn't there the votes for a balanced-budget amendment in the U.S. Senate? That is the question Americans ought to be asking—67 votes to say we ought to live within our means when we are borrowing 43 cents out of every dollar we spend today?"

Coburn and other republicans said a balanced budget amendment would help avoid more debt in the future.
