Your 2 Cents: Sounding Off On School Scandal

Posted: Updated:

A lot of you sounding off tonight about My 2 Cents on the scandal rocking the Atlanta school district, where dozens and dozens of teachers, principals and administrators altered standardized tests to raise the grades.

Andre writes:

" a retired teacher this does not surprise me. I had a principal who was accused of doing the same thing."

K says:

"I think this law stinks, if not for this law there would be no need to lie. If they don't lie then they get no help from the government."

From Ron:

" a retired teacher of 35 years experience I have known a couple teachers who would either give visual or verbal prompts to their students during testing cycles of CRT or benchmarks."

Carole in Edmond:

"Now every test result will be questioned. No Child Left Behind is leaving us all in the dust!"

C in OKC:

"NCLB did not cause the cheating problem. The problem is that some students are not being taught and are simply passed through to graduation."

Melissa in Yukon:

"Schools are urged to spend too much time on testing."

Finally, James writes:

"I don't see these teachers as being overly malicious, but rather worried about losing their jobs in this poor economy."

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's Your 2 Cents.
