OKLAHOMA CITY -- A judge denied bond Monday to a man accused of helping two others attack and beat Oklahoma City Police Officer Chad Peery.

Cadmio Lopez's attorney asked for bond because a conspiracy charge against him had been dropped.

Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater said Lopez is a flight risk if released. He also mentioned that when the attack on Officer Peery occurred, Lopez was hiding out in Oklahoma from a felony arrest warrant for a crime he committed in California.

The judge denied bond and said the trial against Lopez and two other defendants -- Joshua Rinken and Jimmy Smith -- would begin August 29.

A prosecutor told News 9 after the hearing that the August date could be moved to September if all three men are not ready for trial.

The three men accused of beating officer Peery are expected to have three separate trials, all presided over by the same judge.
