RedHawks' Offense Falls Flat Against Omaha

Posted: Updated:

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City RedHawks bats were unable to find any rhythm Sunday, falling to the Omaha Storm Chasers 4-1, to close out a seven-game home stand with back-to-back losses.

Omaha (50-41) starter Vin Mazzaro (5-0) shut down the RedHawks' (39-52) offense, allowing just three hits and one earned run, while striking out three in his seven innings of service en route to the win. Nelson Figueroa (5-5) was credited with a loss for the outing, giving up eight hits and three earned runs.

The RedHawks' only run of the night came in the bottom of the fourth in a scoreless contest. Robinson Cancel drew a walk in the second at-bat of the inning and two batters later Koby Clemens brought him home with a double to left field to take a 1-0 advantage.

However, the Storm Chasers answered in the next half-inning.

Kila Ka'aihue lead off with a walk and Lance Zawadzki doubled in the next at-bat to put runners on second and third with no outs. Two batters later, Paulo Orlando singled to center field to bring Ka'ahuie and Zawadzki home and take a 2-1 advantage. Jarrod Dyson reached on a bunt to first base, allowing Orlando to come home and push the lead to two runs.

Dyson drove in his second run of the game in the top of the seventh, an RBI single to right field to bring Michael Pina home from third to stretch the advantage to 4-1.

The RedHawks will now take three days off for the Pacific Coast League All-Star Break, in which outfielder JB Shuck will appear in the game Wednesday, before taking on Iowa at 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
