What a disgrace... the standardized testing scandal that is rocking the Atlanta school district.
School district administrators, principals, and teachers tampered with students' standardized tests to raise their scores.
And we're not talking about isolated cases, but thousands of tests.
In fact, investigators found that out of 56 schools they checked in Atlanta the tests were changed or rigged at 44 of them.
Eighty-two people have already confessed to the testing fraud, some saying they had get-togethers after the tests where teachers and principals altered the students answers.
Some went so far as wearing gloves to make sure they didn't leave any fingerprints.
And apparently this went on for years in the Atlanta public school system. Nobody seemed to think it odd that test scores seemed to sky rocket, administrators were getting praise and raises.
While administrators were benefiting, the kids who really couldn't read or understand math weren't getting the help they needed.
If this is the mindset that "No Child Left Behind" has brought us, it's time to rethink it.
I'm Kelly Ogle, and that's My 2 Cents.
