CHICKASHA, Oklahoma -- Two Pocasset firefighters were injured and the fire truck in which they were working was lost in a grass fire north of Chickasha Thursday afternoon.

Grady County Emergency Manager Dale Thompson said the firefighters were battling a blaze off of US 81 north of Chickasha when their truck was overtaken by the fire.

The firefighters were both taken to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of 2nd- and 3rd-degree burns.  Thompson said the injuries were not life threatening.

One of the injured firefighters, Christie Rainey, is also the mayor of Pocasset.

The fire was still burning late Thursday afternoon, but it was reported to be contained.
