CHANDLER, Oklahoma -- After weeks of scorching temperatures and very little rain, the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners has issued a 30-day burn ban.

The emergency resolution makes it illegal for anyone to set fire to any forest, grass, range, crop or other wildlands. Those wanting to conduct a controlled ban must receive written permission from the district fire chief.

People are also forbidden from building campfires and bonfires, or from burning trash or other materials.

There are some exceptions to the burn ban. People can use gas grills with no open, exposed flames. Hooded cooking areas are also permissible.
