Chandler Man Drowns in Stroud Lake

STROUD, Oklahoma – A Chandler man drowned in Stroud Lake while swimming Saturday afternoon.

Thirty-nine-year old Shawn Schofield was last seen swimming and diving under water at about 4 p.m.  The victim went under the water and did not resurface.

The Stroud, Davenport, Chandler and Agra fire departments along with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol conducted a search of the area where Schofield was last seen. 

Schofield's body was recovered about 6:30 p.m. in seven feet of water 40 feet from shore.

Family and friends reported Schofield had been drinking heavily prior to the accident.
