BRYAN COUNTY, Oklahoma -- A Texas man drowned in the Red River just below the Lake Texoma dam Sunday morning.

Barry D. Nelson, 42, from Denison, Texas had entered the water to swim about 9:30 a.m.  Bystanders noticed Nelson was not moving and was just floating in the water.  Two people entered the water, pulled Nelson to shore, and began CPR.

Nelson was transported to the Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas, where he was pronounced dead.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol report said that a life vest was not in use and that the investigating officer noticed the odor of an alcoholic beverage on the victim.
