UPDATE: The city of Mustang lifts a boil alert after testing shows the water is now clear of fecal coliform bacteria.
City workers tested the water again today and it showed no bacteria.
Officials called News 9 about an hour ago and say the water is safe to drink.
MUSTANG, Oklahoma -- City of Mustang water customers were put under a boil order Sunday as results of testing showed their water might be contaminated with harmful bacteria.
Tests showed the presence of coliform bacteria, most of which do not cause disease in humans, but their presence in a sample is an indicator that pathenogenic bacteria such as E. coli may be present.
Coliform bacteria and other pathogens are destroyed by boiling.
