ADA, Oklahoma -- Funeral services were held Thursday for an Ada man killed in a bar fight in front of his two sons on Father's Day.

Police arrived at the Outlaws Saloon around 1:30 a.m. Sunday to find 38-year-old Gary Fox unconscious.

He was rushed to the hospital where he died.

"It's just unreal," Gary's mother Karen White said. "Everybody loved Gary."

Fox had a wife and four sons.

Fox's family says Fox was taking his two sons night fishing when he drove past the Outlaws bar and noticed a truck in the parking lot that belonged to a friend of his recently deceased brother-in-law. Fox still had questions about the death and went into the bar for answers.

"We have some information that there was a verbal confrontation about a brother-in-law that had overdosed and died recently," Ponotac County Sheriff John Christian said.

Police are still interviewing witnesses about what happened next. The suspect says he was acting in self defense and his sister, who was also at the bar, backs him up. But other witnesses say that's not the case.

"Gary never swung. He didn't want to fight," Fox's brother Brian Fox said.

"The suspect threw one punch that knocked out Mr. Fox," said Sheriff Christian. "He fell straight back onto the concrete floor."

Fox's 15 and 18-year-old sons saw it all.

"It's been pretty rough," Fox's wife Sherri said.

"He's definitely going to be missed," White said.

Still, Fox's family says they're trying to forgive.

"I cannot believe in my heart he intended to hit and kill him," White said.

The sheriff says no one has been arrested. He is still interviewing witnesses then he will present the case to the district attorney.
