BARTLESVILLE, Oklahoma -- Price Tower Arts Center will host a free Sunday event from noon to 5 p.m. June 19th. Free Sunday features free admission to the gallery exhibition "Once Upon An Island: Twin Towers Rising."
The exhibit showcases photographs of lower Manhattan taken as the World Trade Center was built. There are 130 prints produced from original slides taken by photographer Richard Quinney during the time of the construction.
"Quinney's images display the fascination with the building project, one initially not fully endorsed by the general public, as well as the workers, vendors, and onlookers and places the towers in context with the everyday objects and life around it," said Scott W. Perkins, curator of collections and exhibitions at Price Tower Arts Center.
The Free Sunday will include a special hands-on craft project for children. Families will have the opportunity to make Marshmallow Towers. The craft activity will begin at 1 p.m.
