STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- As part of a preseason fan accessibility promotion, reigning Biletnikoff Award winner Justin Blackmon took to Facebook and Twitter Thursday and answered questions from Cowboy fans via the social media services.

The Oklahoma State junior receiver took to the school-sponsored "Weeden2Blackmon" Facebook and Twitter accounts and spent 20 minutes answering questions posed by fans.

"I didn't know what to expect, I've never done anything like this," Blackmon said in a teleconference after. "I'm not even a big ‘Facebook-er,' but it was enjoyable and I liked how many people came out and supported it."

Blackmon joined Twitter in December of 2010 and in little more than six months, Blackmon has amassed more than 3,000 followers and has sent out more than 1,300 tweets, and is learning to enjoy the service.

"[Twitter] is definitely something you can get hooked on once you figure out what you're doing," Blackmon said. "It's a lot of fun. It's a chance to communicate with people that you wouldn't normally communicate with."

Since the surge in popularity of the social media service, some athletes, celebrities and politicians have created controversy with things sent out on the service. Several other nationally-ranked programs have instituted a ban on their athletes tweeting. However the Cowboys chose to lay out ground rules, rather than banning it overall.

"We know the ins and outs of Twitter," Blackmon said. "We know what to say and what not to say and what needs to be put out there."

Many questions posed were about Blackmon's individual goals and the goals of the program as a whole going forward. Returning two of the nation's top offensive threats from 2010, the Cowboys have set the bar at a conference championship and a shot at the BCS National Championship.

"I'm very excited to get back [on the field] and start playing other teams and start competing for our team goals," Blackmon said. "We've been working hard during the spring and summer and we'll continue that to make it the best we can be."

His teammate Brandon Weeden will get in on the social media push at 9:30 a.m. Friday, as an additional part of the "Weeden2Blackmon" social media campaign.
