OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City firefighters extinguished a three-alarm blaze near downtown Oklahoma City Wednesday evening.

Firefighters were called to N.W. 3rd and McKinley at about 8:30 p.m.  Second and third alarms were called in shortly after the first units arrived on the scene.

There was no indication if the building was occupied at the time of the fire.

A billowing smoke plume half-a-mile wide spread across downtown Oklahoma City.

The fire was rapidly brought under control.

The owner of a car shop nearby said the fire was in a vacant warehouse that may have contained old car parts and plastic.
