Your 2 Cents: Airline Charges Soldiers Extra Bag Fees

Posted: Updated:

They caught a lot of grief for it, and Delta Airlines changed its policy after charging soldiers just back from Afghanistan for having extra bags.

I call it a slap in the face.

Elmer asks:  "Is everybody greedy now days?"

Ann from Lawton:  "No active duty military personnel should EVER have to pay checked baggage fees when flying in their military capacity."

Interesting response from Tony, a veteran himself:   "They need to act more professional and not expect a handout because they wear a uniform."

Not a handout Tony, a thank you.

And Green Lantern says:  "If they are on orders then they should NOT have to pay.

If they are traveling for pleasure they are NOT entitled to any more consideration than any citizen is."

I disagree, their military ID should get them special consideration.

Taknovr writes:  "maybe some of the Delta boss men in charge of their policies should have their butts plopped down in the middle of the war for a few months and then see how they feel about it."

And Kelly shared this experience her soldier son had with Southwest Airlines:  "When my son pulled out his debit card to pay the fee for an over-the-limit bag, the Southwest ticket agent said 'There's no charge for a man who's keeping me free'."

I'm Kelly Ogle and that's YOUR 2 Cents.
