OKLAHOMA CITY -- Ever since the verdict came down in the Jerome Ersland murder case, people have been coming to the Reliable Pharmacy where Ersland once worked to offer support and sign a petition requesting clemency.

Karen Monahan is the one who started the petition drive. She showed us the pages and pages of signatures she's collected. She tells us they've already gathered more than 15-thousand signatures and more keep coming in every day.

Those petitions will soon be going to the board of pardon and parole which will then consider whether or not to recommend the commutation of Ersland's life sentence.  Such a recommendation would ultimately be up to the governor who will decide whether or not to deny it.
