YUKON, Oklahoma -- Schools in Yukon, Shawnee, and Oklahoma City have postponed high school graduations due to severe weather in the metro.

Officials with Yukon Public Schools announced they are postponing it's Tuesday, May 24, high school graduation due to storms and tornado in the metro. The district will decide later when it will reschedule the event.

Shawnee High School's graduation has also been postponed until May 26.

Oklahoma City Public Schools says two high school graduations have been canceled because of the severe weather threat to Oklahoma City and Oklahoma County.

District officials said the Tuesday night ceremonies for Southeast and U.S. Grant high schools are being moved to Thursday and will occur at the previously scheduled times at the Cox Convention Center.

Officials have sent notifications to parents to pick up their children early if possible and bus routes are running in an effort to get students home before early evening hours.

The National Weather Service has said much of Oklahoma is at high risk for severe weather, including tornadoes.
