Alabama Man Killed In Alfalfa County Wreck

A 26-year-old Red Level, Alabama man was killed in what Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say was an alcohol-related wreck.

ALFALFA COUNTY, Oklahoma -- An Alabama man is dead after a one-vehicle wreck in Alfalfa County. Thomas D. Thompson, 26, of Red Level was killed in what troopers say was an alcohol-related crash in that took place at 10:35 Saturday night.

Thompson was driving westbound on State Highway 38 about four miles north of Jet when his 2001 Ford F250 pickup left roadway to the right for about 284 feet. The truck came back up on the roadway traveling broadside for about 113 feet then rolling a time and half, coming to rest in the opposite lanes of traffic.

Thompson was ejected during the roll, landing in the westbound lane of the highway. He died later at St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Enid of head and other injuries.

Thompson was not wearing a seatbelt. Trooper Rick Wallace of the Alfalfa County Detachment said there was an odor of alcohol on the driver and that he was exceeding the legal speed limit.
