OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City family is outraged after a dog attacked a 3-year-old boy. The toddler's family members said they're upset that no one seems to be doing anything about the dog.

Three-year-old Chevy Bogart was hanging out with a relative at a southwest Oklahoma City home when a dog bit him. The family doesn't know exactly what happened since they have heard different stories, but the boy ended up in the hospital with severe injuries.

"He's got injuries to the top of his head, the side of his face, and underneath his left arm," Angel Ketchum, his grandmother, said.

"It's just heartbreaking to watch him having to go through having to be cleaned three times a day. It's heartbreaking," she said.

The dog's owners said they were extremely sorry for what happened, but the dog had neither been vicious before nor had a violent history.

Ketchum said it's an event her grandson won't soon forget. "He's going to be scared of big dogs for the rest of his life."

Both the dog's owner and the supervisor of the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter said the boy had food in his hand and provoked the dog.

The pit bull has been quarantined for 10 days in the owner's garage, but Bogart's family said they want the dog to be euthanized.

"The owners and the dog will not suffer at all for what the little boy's gone through, and it's not fair at all," Ketchum said.

The animal shelter supervisor said the dog is allowed to be quarantined at home because all of its shots are current and the incident did not meet the criteria for criminal action.

Bogart's family members said they will sue the dog's owner.
