Consumer Watch: New Roofer Registration Law Protects Consumers

OKLAHOMA CITY -- A new state law protects consumers if they need to get their roof repaired or replaced.

The Roofing Contractor's Registration Act requires businesses to have a license to work in Oklahoma and have all the proper insurance.

The law requires the contractor to display their registration number on signs and in contracts.

"It's really just a way that the consumer can check the background of a roofer or contractor before they do business with them," said Mike Wells, with A-Best Roofing.

 The roofing companies register with the Construction Industries Board.
