TULSA, Oklahoma – Two sisters accused of trying a hoax at a Tulsa church were charged Monday, according to court records.

Records show Birdie Jo and Becky Jo Hoaks are each charged with grand larceny and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The incident happened last weekend at Woodland Acres Baptist Church in Tulsa.

Police say Birdie Jo's 11-year-old son swiped a woman's purse from a pew during the church's greeting time. The woman and other church members chased the boy outside, where Birdie Jo and Becky Jo were waiting.

Police arrested the sisters and the woman's purse was returned.

The twin sisters are known across the country for scams and cons. Both been charged in Tulsa County over the years for stolen credit cards and grand larceny, but were given deferred or suspended sentences.
