TUSHKA, Oklahoma -- Gov. Mary Fallin was forced to cancel her plans to survey the tornado damage in Tushka due to weather.
Fallin had planned to travel to Tushka Friday afternoon to see the destruction left by Thursday's twister, but she could not take a helicopter flight because of the strong winds.
The governor also said she had to cancel the trip because of a 5 p.m. deadline to act upon legislation on her desk.
Fallin's trip to Tushka has been rescheduled for Saturday, April 16. She and several emergency management officials will tour the devastated town in the morning.
Thursday's tornado touched down in Tushka during the evening hours, killing two elderly sisters. Their names have not been released.
The tornado also destroyed several homes and buildings, including a school. Residents started sifting through the debris Friday morning, searching for anything they could salvage.
