OKLAHOMA CITY – Students and teachers from across Oklahoma gathered at the State Capitol to support legislation designed to put an end to bullying.
House bill 1461 adds law enforcement to the list of groups that should be involved in creating a school's anti-bullying policy. If passed, cyber bullying would also be added to current state laws which specify how schools should address bullying behavior with students.
"They are worrying whether someone is going to beat them up after school, in class, in the bathroom. And their focus is on that instead of their education and it does make a big difference," said middle school teacher Susie Woods.
The bill has already passed the House and is now in a Senate committee.
