MIDWEST CITY, Oklahoma -- Midwest City police have identified two people found inside a burned Midwest City home Wednesday and arrested the couple's grandson on first-degree murder and arson charges.

Firefighters were called to a home in the 3400 block of Pleasant Drive around 11 a.m. to find almost half of it was engulfed in flames. Once firefighters were able knock down the fire, homeowners David Garrick, 60 and his wife Rose Garrick, 57, were found dead inside.

Police deemed their deaths suspicious and were investigating the incident as a double homicide. The causes of death of the two victims are not known at this time.

Investigators were looking for a white 2004 GMC 1500 Sierra pickup with Oklahoma tag 879AUO that was taken from the home. Midwest City Police Chief Clabes said the vehicle was located in Chickasha at about 5 p.m. driven by the victims' 16-year-old grandson, Kyle Smith.

Clabes said the teen was booked on two counts of first-degree murder and arson.

Neighbors said they knew very little about the people who lived in the home, saying only that they had been living there for a little over a year.

"It's real sad, tragic. You hear a lot about house fires. It's the first one I've seen where there is
victims. It's a sad deal," Chuck Schuman, who initially called 911 to report the fire at the home.

Police said they also found a possible explosive device inside the home. A bomb squad was called out to investigate and determined the device was a dummy grenade. As a precaution police evacuated everyone within 300 feet of the home.
