OKLAHOMA CITY – A local bar is recreating their iconic sign. Cock O' the Walk Bar & Grill has operated underneath the historic sign featuring a strutting rooster since 1960.

The iconic sign has deteriorated in recent years and was greatly in need of repair.

Property Manager Billy Woodring and Bar Owner Chris McGuire decided they wanted to restore the sign to its original glory.

"The Cock O' the Walk is a place where all kinds of people gather to have a good time, and our sign really represents us and our customers. We couldn't leave it in its current state," McGuire said in a press release.

Local sign restorer Travis Griffin decided it would be more cost efficient to start from scratch, hand-crafting the new sign to produce an exact replica of the original.

"The original sign was so dilapidated, it could not be restored," Griffin said. "The new sign will be vibrant and fun while still maintaining the original charm. I think it will be a shining symbol of the area."

"Travis did such an incredible job recreating this Oklahoma City icon. We are proud to bring such a celebrated city landmark back to life," Woodring said.

The new sign will be erected at the Cock O' the Walk Bar & Grill located on 3705 N Western Ave. on Sunday March 20 at 11 a.m.
