Jay Community Remembers Two Victims In Fatal Crash

JAY, Oklahoma – Friends and family gathered Friday afternoon to remember two victims killed in a crash earlier this week.

Kyle Lee, 19, and Megan Cooper, 21, are siblings. The two, along with their friend, Sean Roper, 18, died in a head-on collision with a semi truck north of Vinita on March 14, 2011.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Lee, the driver, became distracted by something inside the car and crossed the center line, striking a semi truck.

Services for Cooper and Lee, who was a senior at Jay High School, were held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Jay Bulldog Arena.

Services for Sean Roper, who was also a senior at Jay High School, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2011, in Siloam Springs.

The driver of the semi truck, 71-year-old Donald Volkman, suffered minor injuries.
