CLINTON, Oklahoma – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash and fire near Clinton.
When troopers arrived on scene at about 5 p.m. they found a semi on fire along with a large grassfire along I-40 at mile marker 64. They also found one victim, but their name and cause of death have not been released.
It is unclear what caused the crash, but it appeared the semi hit several cars. No other injuries were reported. Crews were able to get the grassfire under control and out quickly.
All westbound and eastbound lanes were shut down while troopers cleared the scene. The westbound lanes of I-40 were reopened first, but eastbound lanes were closed for almost five hours before the OHP reopened them.
