OKLAHOMA CITY -- Governor Mary Fallin attended an executive session of the Board if Medicolegal Investigations and toured the Medical Examiner's Office Thursday afternoon.

The department continues to search for a chief medical investigator. The interim chief has been in place since February 2010. The office also lost its national accreditation in 2009.

Fallin told the M.E.'s board she expects them to be actively involved in improving operations.

"It's time for this agency to get back on its feet to work towards restoring credibility, confidence that the public needs to have in the important agency," said Governor Fallin.

The governor said the Medical Examiner's Office is in the process of finding the right person to become the next chief.
