Strong Winds Blow Into Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY --  A tornado warning was issued for northern Kay and Osage Counties about 6 p.m. Sunday. There were two reports of a tornado touching down Sunday near the Oklahoma-Kansas border.

Heavy storms began to develop south and east of the metro late Sunday evening and were moving east at about 55 mph. The storms were not severe but were able to produce gusty winds and small hail.

After the storms pass Sunday evening, strong westerly winds will sweep across Oklahoma with blowing dust. Metro winds will increase westerly 20 to 40 mph. In the Texas Panhandle, winds are expected to gusts up to 75 mph.

Twenty-three counties are still under a burn ban. The gusty winds will make for dangerous conditions if a fire breaks out.

Temperatures will start in the upper 30s on Monday morning but will rebound into the 50s by midday. The next chance for rain will not approach Oklahoma until next weekend.
